Raptor Education Programs

The Maryland Raptor Conservancy offers raptor education programs in Maryland for public and K-12 audiences. With our U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Special Purpose Possession - Live and Dead Migratory Birds and Maryland Endangered Species permits, we do live bird of prey programs that focus on native Maryland raptors and how to practice conservation in our yards and neighborhoods to help raptors survive and thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions that people ask the most about Maryland Raptor Conservancy.

  • Who is the Maryland Raptor Conservancy?

We are federal and state-permitted raptor rescuers, rehabbers and falconers who want our fellow Marylanders to know more about the hazards birds of prey face in the wild, and how they can make their neighborhoods raptor-friendly.

  • What birds will I see during your programs?

We have an American Kestrel, a Red Tailed Hawk, a Barn Owl and a Barred Owl. Depending on the venue and bird availability, we may use one or any combination for our programs and events. We may substitute birds after evaluation of local conditions.

  • How is my donation used?

All donations go towards the care, feeding and housing of our birds. This includes their natural diet, ongoing health care and the maintenance of their living spaces (called mews). We make our IRS Form 990 available for review, as required by law.
